21st Century Community
Learning Centers

What is the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program?

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) initiative is a federally funded program that offers out-of-school-time activities for K- 12 students in high-poverty areas. The activities are designed to improve students’ academic performance and offer enrichment opportunities in a safe environment outside of the regular school day. The programs are evaluated at the federal, state, and local levels. In Michigan, the state evaluation is being conducted by Michigan State University’s Community Evaluation and Research Center (CERC).
